"The Matrix" sollte eigentlich Ausdruck kollektiver Manipulation und illusionärer Realitätsvorstellungen sein. Statt dessen wird der Film wohl überwiegend "nur" als gut gemachter Science Fiction Thriller verstanden - was er daneben wohl auch noch ist.
Den ersten Aspekt verstanden hat jedenfalls Meatrix - Animal Farm in the Matrix - not only to think about animal protection.
