Summary: I reported about the conviction of Magnus Gaefgen for kidnapping the eleven year old boy Jakob von Metzler in Frankfurt. The police tried to find the victim by threat with torture. The question was, if special circumstances, f.e. such as to prevent terror acts as of Septemer 11th or similar crimes, may excuse this handling. The Court ruled against Mr. Gäfgen - he had confirmed the confession in the final proceedings. The sentence has now got final (24.05.2004).
